What you will build

An application on top of your existing tables, without moving the data.

Architecture

  1. Existing SQL Server / PostgreSQL
  2. Register tables
  3. Build the application

Steps

  1. 1Connect the database

Add a connection for the app's Development environment and test it. The platform checks the database for compatible tables and views.

  2. 2Prepare the environment

Run application setup. It adds the platform's own tables to the database and, in Development, registers compatible tables and views as entities.

  3. 3Review and register

Each registered table gets its fields, the Default, List and Detail queries and default access. Register more tables later, or re-sync fields when a table changes.

  4. 4Build on top

Design screens on the generated queries, set access, and add lifecycles and approvals exactly as for new entities. New tables are created with non-destructive DDL you can preview as SQL.

Result

Your existing data, with modern screens, access rules and workflows around it.
